The Deadhead movement, which began in the late 1960s, remains one of the most dedicated and influential fan cultures in music history.  With tie-dye shirts, road trips following the band, and an emphasis on peace, love, and community, Deadheads have created a lasting legacy that extends beyond music. From vinyl collectors to festival-goers, the culture surrounding the Grateful Dead is as vibrant today as it was in the band's heyday.  Whether through classic albums, live recordings or ongoing tributes, the Grateful Dead's music continues to inspire and unite people across the world AND right here in our little community.

Fun fact

The phrase "Strangers Stopping Strangers, just to shake their hand" originates from the lyrics of Scarlet Begonias, a song by the Grateful Dead from their 1974 album The Mars Hotel.

This line captures the essence of the Deadhead community —an ever-growing network of fans who share a deep appreciation for the band’s music, ethos, and free-spirited culture.

The Grateful Dead, formed in 1965 in San Francisco, became pioneers of the psychedelic rock movement, blending folk, blues, and improvisational jam sessions into a unique sound that defined an era 60 years ago.  Their concerts were legendary, known for their unpredictability and the deep connection between the band and its audience.
